The PvP exists are quite good in the game. It's Rappelz there. It's just beyond Trainee Island, where my character is still located, and outside the safety of towns. I know nothing of experiencing what it's like to kill or be killed. I havn't even had the pleasure of having being eaten by a monster yet. However, after coming to these forums and studying the rules, I have this to say. Please read into the part that I havn't even died yet, or played the game past level 11 Job 6 Fighter yet. So if I'm wrong about the actual impact of penalties then please tell me.

Unless the game is going to compensate by giving the player a chance to regain the EXP ,experience loss is never a good thing. If the player can get it back in a method that is equal to dying and losing the ammount lost, then go for an EXP loss. But there is none, is there?

Plus, the evolution of MMORPGs found out with trial and error that it's better to have no EXP penalty upon death. EXP penalty is so 90s. Oh, and it's just plain BORING.

Item loss is equally never a good thing unless the blah blah compensate by blah blah. Yadda yadda. Same thing. The player should have a method to get their losses back, especially if they're broke and they suddenly drop their item and the killer takes it and decides to keep it. Sure, there's Lak points, you can rappelz rupees reduce your chances of EXP loss and also the item loss chance.

But one death means you're completely out of Lak(Hah, good pun, sounds like luck). Don't forget if you die to a monster, you lose quite a lot of Lak as well. This means having no Lak is a common occurance if you engage in a lot of PvP or die from monsters. And this is on a PvP server. Beep Beep Beep Beep (Sound of a forklift backing up at Sam's Club).
